The prolific billionaire, who is known for provoking controversy with his comments on everything from Mars to artificial intelligence, once again stirred a pot this week, when he defended Tesla’s decision to make the all-electric Model 3 more affordable by increasing its cost-per-unit. The move was controversial and slammed by those inside and outside of the company who called it the biggest mistake the company has ever made. Musk went on to defend the move, saying that “being price-tough is a core Tesla value,” and that “we absolutely must price this right.
